Let’s try to answer and tell you everything you need to know before booking your Tanzania safari adventure with Ken Tours.

Tanzania offers excellent wildlife viewing year-round, but the best time depends on your interests. The dry season (June–October) is ideal for general game viewing as animals gather around water sources. The Great Migration river crossings happen July–September. The calving season (January–March) in the southern Serengeti is spectacular for seeing newborns and predator action. The green season (November–May) offers lush landscapes, fewer tourists, and lower prices.

Our packages typically include: airport transfers, all transportation in custom 4×4 safari vehicles with pop-up roofs, professional English-speaking guides, all park entrance fees, accommodation as specified, all meals during safari (full board), drinking water, and a complimentary safari hat. International flights, travel insurance, visa fees, personal items, tips, and alcoholic beverages are not included. We provide a detailed breakdown with every quote.

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Tanzania. Citizens of many countries can obtain an e-visa online before travel or a visa on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR). The standard tourist visa costs $50 USD and is valid for 90 days. US citizens require a multiple-entry visa at $100. We recommend applying for your e-visa at least 2 weeks before travel at eservices.immigration.go.tz.

Yellow Fever vaccination is required if you’re arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. We strongly recommend: Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Tetanus, and anti-malaria prophylaxis. Consult your travel health clinic at least 6-8 weeks before departure. We’ll provide a comprehensive health advisory document with your booking confirmation.

Standard game-drive safaris require minimal physical fitness — you’ll be seated in a comfortable vehicle for most of the day. Walking safaris require moderate fitness for 2-3 hour walks on flat terrain. Kilimanjaro treks require good cardiovascular fitness and we recommend training 3-6 months in advance. We offer difficulty ratings for each package and can customize itineraries to match your fitness level.

Absolutely! Customization is our specialty. Every traveler is unique, and we love crafting bespoke itineraries. Whether you want to add extra days in the Serengeti, combine a safari with a Kilimanjaro trek, extend to Zanzibar, or focus on specific wildlife photography opportunities — we’ll design the perfect trip. Simply fill out our inquiry form with your preferences and our safari experts will create a tailored proposal within 24 hours.

Tanzania is one of the safest countries in East Africa for tourists. The Tanzanian people are known for their warmth and hospitality. Our guides are trained in first aid and safety protocols, all vehicles carry communication equipment, and we maintain relationships with local authorities. We recommend standard travel precautions: don’t display expensive jewelry, use hotel safes for valuables, and follow your guide’s advice at all times.

We understand plans can change. Our cancellation policy: 60+ days before departure — full refund minus $200 admin fee; 30-59 days — 50% refund; 15-29 days — 25% refund; less than 15 days — no refund. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation. In case of extraordinary circumstances (pandemics, natural disasters), we offer flexible rebooking options.
